Traditionally there are limited methods for a company to approach information of university’s researches such as through official congress publication or private friendship although there are many business seeds which people inside of university do not seem to realize. Most of those business seeds are left behind without adequate evaluation at the present and we consider it to be the great loss for university which calls out for reinforcement project for promotion of Business-Academia cooperation. KUMBL Liaison Office in Kyoto University Medical School and SSBLO were established on April 2002 in order to bring change to the situation. Both offices are associated to promote Business-Academia cooperation. After April 2004 (This year university became corporate body) the office has operated in wide variety of activities such as dispatching of information, patent application support, knowledge transfer and so on.

As progress was seen on April 2005, both KUMBL Liaison Office and Incubation program committee are joined together as one organization within Kyoto Graduate School of Medicine. Therefore Sirankai Science and Business Liaison Office decided to improve its characteristic as an information exchange base to carry out activities such as knowledge transfer, dispatching information and popularization of academic information. Under the principle of association with KUMBL Liaison Office, our mission is to promote Business-Academia cooperated projects for the future through carrying out activities such as to discover and accumulate intellectual properties, knowledge transfer including license and joint researches for members of the SSBLO club and for anyone who is interested.
